Late autumn 1988, just after the Seoul Olympics, in the quiet farming town of Taean-eup, Gyeonggi Province. Every rainy Thursday night when a melancholic request song plays on the late-night radio, a woman carrying a red umbrella is found murdered inside a concrete rice paddy culvert, bound with her own stockings. Veteran local detective Park Doo-man, who swears by gut instinct, clashes and joins forces with analytical Seoul detective Seo Tae-yoon and perceptive policewoman Kwon Soon-young to trace a 245mm sneaker print and a rare fisherman's knot before the autumn rain washes every clue away.
