Merchant Queen of Pyeongan: Empress of the Silk Road
Author: KOXLO 사극관
At the frozen Yalu River border market of Chaengmun where winter temperatures plunge to minus thirty degrees, Yoo So-yeon—daughter of a ruined Uiju innkeeper framed five years ago—stands upon the ice road with five sleds carrying three hundred catties of prime Ganggye red ginseng, guarded by her former-warrior chief escort Kang Mu-jin. Cartel boss Cheon Deok-bo colludes with Shanxi merchants to boycott her goods and force her into debt slavery by sunset. Uncovering intelligence of an epidemic inside Beijing's Forbidden City and snowbound silver wagons in Liaoyang, So-yeon launches a daring convertible bill-of-exchange gambit at the Million-Nyang Imperial Silk Auction on the frozen river.
